Just like Obama, can't do any worse so he's gonna be the best...

This country is kinda like my truck, still got a few decent years left, but it's best years are behind it....

Because both sides are responsible you cant cast blame on either. By that, more people look at LBJ's involvement in civil rights or Nixon and Watergate.

Wrong on that one...if there's responsibility to be had on both sides, I wish they'd step up and take responsibility for what they've done wrong in the past. Both parties are to blame for a lot of the things wrong with this country, but they'll never be held accountable b/c the system doesn't really allow for a 3rd party to step in there and win a major federal (or even state) office and hold the other two parties responsible.

That net beneath both parties allows them to get away with far too much more than what they should be allowed to.

What I meant by that is that you can single out a particular one if all were equally responsible and guilty.

(CNN) ? McCain adviser Nancy Pfotenhauer made a splash Saturday by drawing a line between northern Virginia and "real Virginia,"? which she said is the "part of the state that is more Southern in nature,"? a comment that may not sit well with the many residents of the commonwealth residing north of Frederickburg.

Using Pfotenhauer's definition, however, Barack Obama and his running mate Joe Biden have out-campaigned their Republican rivals by a significant margin in "real Virginia."?

Obama has made nine campaign stops in central, southwest and southeast Virginia: in Martinsville, Lynchburg, Chester, Chesapeake, Fredericksburg, Lebanon, Norfolk, Roanoke and Newport News. Biden has made two: Castlewood and Fredericksburg.

By contrast, McCain and his running mate Sarah Palin have only ventured out of northern Virginia twice. On Monday, the pair held a joint rally in Virginia Beach, and Palin then continued on to a campaign stop in Richmond.

McCain's rally Saturday was in the northern Virginia town of Woodbridge, home to thousands of Virginians who commute up to Washington, D.C. every day on I-95.

(CNN) ? In the final days before the election, the strategy in battleground Virginia has shifted from getting people registered to making sure they show up to vote.

"The war's being waged in Virginia," said Michael McDonald, associate professor of government and politics at George Mason University and a visiting fellow at the Brookings Institution. "You're seeing both campaigns out in force with their lieutenants and grunts on the ground trying to get people to vote."

With 310,530 new voters registered in Virginia, a whole new group of voters could decide the election in the commonwealth.

Virginia has voted Republican in every presidential race since 1968, but the latest CNN poll of polls calculated Monday shows Barack Obama with a 7-point advantage over John McCain, 51-44 percent, with 5 percent saying they're undecided.

The McCain and Obama campaigns, along with the help of third-party organizations like the AFL-CIO, and women's groups for McCain-Palin have been going door-to-door, making phone calls, handing out literature, and sending text messages to ensure voters know where to go and vote next Tuesday.

(CNN) "? A month ago, John McCain's brother Joe called the Northern Virginia "communist country."? Two weeks ago, a key surrogate said the area wasn't even a "real"? part of the state.

On Saturday, John McCain told voters there the area was "key"? to a Republican victory.

"I want to remind you again, Fairfax County is key to this election," McCain told a Springfield, Virginia crowd. "You know that. You know how important it is for us to win here, you know how important it is that we put this country in the right direction. I need your help for the next three days."


Supporters dismissed the prospect of a McCain loss in the state, which hasn't supported a Democrat since Lyndon Johnson's 1964 campaign. "What's this garbage about Obama's gonna win Virginia? What is that about?" South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, a major McCain backer, asked the crowd Saturday. "Chicago's 705 miles. It might as well be on the moon compared to Virginia. I know Virginia. Virginia believes in lower taxes. Virginians fight the wars. Virginians want opportunity and not a handout." Phoenix is 2,352 miles from Springfield.

Driven by a surge in Democratic registrations in the Washington, D.C. suburbs where McCain spoke Saturday, the state has elected two Democratic governors and U.S. senator in recent years, and is considered likely to another next week.

Two weeks ago "? hours before McCain's last visit to the area "? adviser Nancy Pfotenhauer said Northern Virginia was unlikely to support the Arizona senator's presidential bid/ "I certainly agree that northern Virginia has gone more Democratic. And as a proud resident of Oakton, Virginia I can tell you that the Democrats have just come in from the District of Columbia and moved into northern Virginia. And that's really what you see there. But the rest of the state, "?real' Virginia if you will, I think will be very responsive to Senator McCain's message."?

Asked if she wanted to clarify her comments, Pfotenhauer stood by her remarks. "I did say outside of Northern...I did say "?real' Virginia, because northern Virginia is where I've always been, but real Virginia I take to be this part of the state that is more Southern in nature, if you will. Northern Virginia is really metro DC, as you're aware, Kevin."?

Barack Obama held a 9 point lead in the CNN/Time Opinion Research Corporation poll released last week.
